Although the prophets at the end of the Old Testament had an important role, it must have been hard!

Think of Malachi who was the last to speak before the 400 years of silence preceding the Savior.

Many did not want to be associated with prophets, even those who were prophets. Malachi was required to speak forcefully, even to “curse” the nation of Israel. The Law did not give them the power to save them from sin- God’s presence eventually left the temple.

The passage in Revelation points toward the marriage supper of the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (aka Jesus). He is being married to the church (not Israel), as the bride of Christ.

The power of God came down on the first believers (early church) in Acts 2. This was a new and living way for God to include mankind in His kingdom.

All of a sudden, everyone wanted to be part of this spirit of prophecy which is the testimony of Jesus.

We have a sneak peak and see how the story ends. No wonder His birth, life, death and resurrection are such a big deal.

Opinions will shift, but God’s method of redemption was prophesied. Let us be fully in line with His truth no matter how unpopular. -Teresa

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

⁶ Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,

For the Lord our God
    the Almighty reigns.
⁷ Let us rejoice and exult
    and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
    and his Bride has made herself ready;
⁸ it was granted her to clothe herself
    with fine linen, bright and pure”—

for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

⁹ And the angel said^[a] to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” ¹⁰ Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

⁴ “On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. He will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive, ⁵ but he will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a worker of the soil, for a man sold me in my youth.’^[b] 6 And if one asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your back?’^[c] he will say, ‘The wounds I received in the house of my friends.’

The Shepherd Struck

⁷ “Awake, O sword, against my shepherd,
    against the man who stands next to me,”
declares the Lord of hosts.

“Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;
    I will turn my hand against the little ones.

We watched the Netflix, “Mary”, this week. It was quite a depiction of the forces of evil against the Savior’s birth. I had never considered the physical strength required of both Mary and Joseph. Their spiritual lives, of course, were exemplary and full of faith.

This Psalm (below) also echoes King David’s reliance on God. Not only will the Lord guard but He will preserve those who are called for His purpose.

You may wonder, “am I called”? Mary was called “favored” by God. David was called, “a man after God’s own heart”, in order to lead the nation of Israel.

Those who trust God’s way of salvation (through His Son) are called “holy, chosen, and beloved”. What a gift to be part of God’s family, to be a witness for Him in a desperate world.

The church continues on. With the glorious proclamation of God’s name in the church “building”, and more importantly in the lives of those who look to Him, trusting Him in their daily walk.

Wherever we go this Christmas: to coffee, to the mall, to church or to our family’s homes, remember that God is still in the business of guarding and preserving our lives for His purpose and calling.- Teresa #God’s family #His calling #Ourpurpose

My husband and I are listening to “the Messiah” this morning. Such a wonderful composition.

It’s the perfect backdrop for reading this passage in Revelation. Matthew Henry describes the suffering of Christ Jesus (as a Lamb that was slain) and His blood was shed for the purpose of ransoming people for God from every nation. #receiveHim #Hisgracethroughfaith

No wonder the star shone in the heavens on the night of His birth. We attended Ballet Rejoice’s “Nativity” this week. The ballerina who depicted the star was radiant, her face shone from an inner light of grace.

The wise men followed the star, understanding the significance of a King. Herod was jealous and did not want another to rule. Nevertheless, the Christ child came with a chorus of rejoicing in the heavenly host.

We also can worship and sing with great joy because of God’s gift to mankind.

This season, remember the star ⭐️, which announced the King. This Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world. He was born of a woman and yet He is the worthy Son of God. -Teresa #salvation

And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. ⁷ And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. ⁸ And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.⁹ And they sang a new song, saying,

“Worthy are you to take the scroll
    and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God
    from every tribe and language and people and nation,
¹⁰ and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,

There are times when our faith is sorely tested. Surely we have to dig deep to renew our hopes and dreams.

My daughter and I have been attending a wonderful “Caregiver Support” group at our local church. Little did I know what a blessing it would be. In fact, when we had difficult news a few months ago (and using the caring methods of our facilitator), I felt moved to not only host our “usual” thanksgiving but to make it extra special.

Seeing lovely clothes and partaking around a beautiful table of bounteous food led to gorgeous smiles and an all-encompassing knowledge of being loved.

Thanksgiving has been pouring out over the past two weeks as our difficult news has been turning into new opportunities.
