Showers of Blessing

Walking to the track and pondering God’s goodness

When those with rank turn honor to shame. When those with power love vanity and lies, there’s yet another viewpoint.

Like David, we can ponder God’s goodness. We can rest assured that He sets the godly apart for Himself. He hears His children. But we DO have to call, (even if it means working through an agitated review of the day’s challenges).

David’s joy is expressed so beautifully, as being greater than when their grain and new wine abounds. It’s not tipsy, greedy or even vengeful…his joy is based on the blessing of God’s goodness over his life.

If we can wrap our minds around what that means (his righteousness…He makes things right), we too would sleep peacefully. – Teresa #relief

Psalm 4 (ESV)

Answer Me When I Call

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

4 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
    You have given me relief when I was in distress.
    Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!

O men,[a] how long shall my honor be turned into shame?
    How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah
But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself;
    the Lord hears when I call to him.

Be angry,[b] and do not sin;
    ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
Offer right sacrifices,
    and put your trust in the Lord.

There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
    Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
You have put more joy in my heart
    than they have when their grain and wine abound.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
    for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.Read full chapter

  1. teresa, you calling the rain shower beautiful reminds me of what my Pilates instructor said this morning. She said, “you can be happy about the snow. You can be upset about the snow. Either way, you’re going to have the same amount of snow.”

    it made me laugh. Perspective is everything!
