Do you have time to stand in awe of the common representations of God all around you? Ann Voskamp, in her book One Thousand Gifts, helps me to think of these rare nature moments as His unique gift graciously showing up for me each day. In light of the message in Hebrews, do we have time not to recognize this new and living way? If His eternal gift is so outstanding that our sins and deeds (that have missed God’s mark of perfection) are no longer remembered by the righteous Judge- then, we must gratefully worship Him.- Teresa #Youareonmymind #Iloveurlaw #loveGodloveothers #newcovenant #Jeremiah31:31
Hebrews 10:1-17 English Standard Version (ESV)
Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All
10 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 Consequently, when Christ[a] came into the world, he said,
“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
but a body have you prepared for me;
6
in burnt offerings and sin offerings
you have taken no pleasure.
7
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,
as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”
8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ[b] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
16
“This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws on their hearts,
and write them on their minds,”
17 then he adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

The leaves in all of their autumnal glory speak of our brilliant Creator. In this passage, Jesus Christ the LORD (the Creator) was appointed as high priest ensuring our eternal salvation. His reverent prayers to the Father were heard and answered, being glorified through His resurrection. His perfect sacrifice which paid more than enough for the sins of the world (Is 52,53), ensures that we too are resurrected when we entrust ourselves to this new and living way. -Teresa #gentleSavior #gloriousLORD
As sweet as this pastry was, even sweeter was God’s grace that flowed through me toward the frustrations of that day. By the 5th obstacle, I had to laugh and tell those around me that surely something great was about to happen (it was inexplicable)! Sure enough, my team at work showered me with Boss’s Day gifts that were overwhelming (they had planned all this under my “watchful” eyes without me knowing). I felt like God’s encouraging presence was all around me. When we feel battered and pressed by inexplicable life circumstances, we should remember that our blessed hope has done something crazy good for us!!! – Teresa #Hedidthehardwork #nowwecanlive #thebestisyetocome #lyricsfredhammond
When the goats join forces to keep the wetland grass and bushes trimmed, we are blessed with a beautiful sight at sunrise! In this passage, God is encouraging Jeremiah to call out to Him. He reveals to Jeremiah a promise of healing and righteousness that would come to restore the land. Ultimately, a descendant of David was promised, a righteous Branch (Jesus, our Savior). As sure as the sun rises, God would do this amazing act for His people. If we are waiting for God in a difficult place, God invites us to also call upon Him and be encouraged. He has promises for us today that will be accomplished (in spite of our feeble human limitations). -Teresa #toGodbetheglory
Although we are blessed at times with sweetness beyond measure, the law of the Lord is even sweeter than honey. It revives our soul and makes us wise. We desire the truth and righteousness of your ways, Our Redeemer. -Teresa
While visiting my mom, we went for dinner at the Pannekoeken Restaurant. It was really good food and reminiscent of her recipe for Finnish pancakes. This passage reminds me of how much God wants to meet all our needs according to His riches in glory. (Phil 4:19) When the God of Israel said, “Open your mouth wide and I will fill it”, I am encouraged to know that my busy work is not the end result of my life’s efforts. Rather, I hear God’s heart for us….to feed us with the finest of wheat and satisfy us with honey from the rock. Our job is to get rid of the things that compete for God’s position as Savior and Lord. You, Lord, amaze me with joy and abundance from your hand.- Teresa
Flying into San Diego, I snapped this shot. The light shining on the hills along with the water in the distance and the wing of the plane in the foreground helped me to reflect on this passage. The Psalmist described God’s mighty works to the children of Israel. He delivered them (safe passage), he illuminated their way (pillar of fire), and he met their daily need (water). When you read the gospel of John, Jesus clearly proclaims his deity. He delivers us from sin (the way to the Father), he claims to be the light of the world (which helps us navigate through spiritual darkness), and he is the living water (eternally satiating our spiritual thirst). Will we trust his saving power? – Teresa #beamazed #besteadfast #befaithul #believe #panisangelicus
When I’m with one of my kids, I realize what a blessing the youth are. They challenge us with fresh and new perspectives, taking into account all that they’ve been taught. The prophet, Jeremiah, was a youth when God called him to speak up. He took into account what he had been taught, (saying that he was only a youth). In essence, God told him, “it didn’t matter- I’m the one calling you to speak”!! It takes courage to fly in the face of tradition. Did we do this when we were youths? Why does it surprise us when our children walk the God-ordained path set before them? – Teresa #chosen #uniquelyHis
Listening to some love songs this week, I was feeling the vibe of “Don’t Know Much”, sung by Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt. My Bible reading today expressed this same “first love” feeling I had for the Savior back in 1979. Strangely, it hit me as vibrantly today as my passion carried me then (when I’d sing at the top of my lungs with my car windows rolled down driving the country roads home after work). He makes all things new! His love changes our whole identity (and is like a foundation holding us strong). His praise is so easy to sing out when He brings us from death to life. -Teresa #IdontknowmuchbutIknowIlove…
There are many rooms in the Father’s house. Jesus is preparing them for his disciples and for all who walk by faith when He returns to earth (in order to bring us to live with Him in heaven). Eternal life is so much more than experiencing the richness of God’s kingdom (streets of gold). More importantly, it includes close fellowship or relationships! How do we get to be a part of this? Read the answer below in verse six. Eternal life begins the moment we put our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (we are all eternal beings and at this moment we cross from death to life). He desires for us to know the trinity in a personal way. Has God ever spoken into your individual circumstances? If so, you can trust that He will fulfill all His promises.- Teresa
